ABOUT
Explosive welding is known for its incredible ability to weld dissimilar metals. It is a difficult process to work with, but it is also very reliable. Beginning in 1996, a small dedicated group of creative innovators got together to study this technology in depth and to make it easier to work with. They knew this technology had a lot to offer, but the process was just too cumbersome. They wanted to find an easier way. So they brought their talents to bear and, after several years of focussed research funded largely by grants, they found the quantum leap. From this, a good handful of highly advanced new material applications emerged.
One of their most visible achievements is the wavless interface. This perfectly flat bond between the bonded surfaces completely eliminates the problems of the conventional wavy interface. The team is also particulalry proud of their new titanium clad process. Their new method for making titanium clad completely revolutionizes the way this material is made. It is an evolutionary step forward, converting this single-unit production process into a high volume, low cost process that combines the best of explosive welding with the best of hot roll bonding. They have brought an age-old process into the modern world.
VISION
Small but brilliant innovations, driven by large scale thinking, free from commercial limitations, resulted in a new way of doing things in the highly versatile world of explosion metallurgy. Many of the shortcomings of explosive welding have been overcome and a streamlined process with a superior welded material is the result.
